"With my work I set out to capture evocative images of wilderness and wildlife, from pristine beaches, untouched by mankind, through to some of the most exciting animals that Mother Nature has to offer. In recent times I've concentrated on the wildlife of both the African and Asian continents, working with zoos and wildlife sanctuaries from Australia and abroad to raise money to help fight the extinction of many of the world's most incredible species. With my beach scenes the focus is the light. Capturing the heat of the day, the play of the light is my goal.

I am a self taught artist with a background in comic illustration, graphic art and signwriting. In early 2001 I began my journey in fine art, at first working on wildlife subjects and since branching out to encompass most subjects. My primary medium is soft pastel, though I work regularly with everything from pencils, charcoal, pastels, oils, acrylics and watercolours. My work has collected awards over the past few years and is in many private collections throughout Australia, USA and UK. I am also a member of the Australian Guild of Realist Artists and Landscape Artists International." 

Recently Leigh has been short listed for the BBC’s wildlife artist of the year.
